AMS 6468 is a low-alloy, high strength steel with incredible fracture toughness thanks to its high concentration of nickel and cobalt. Its annealing process involves being heat treated at 1300ºF (705ºC) for 4 hours, air cooled to room temp, plus 1150ºF (620ºC) for 4-8 hours and then air cooled again. AMS 6468 is commonly used for aircraft structural components.
