AMS 5597 is typically used for parts needing high strength at cryogenic temperatures, for short periods of time up to 1000 °F. Applications include cases, ducts, and cryogenic storage tanks. AMS 5597 has excellent weldability compared to the nickel-base super alloys hardened by aluminum and titanium.
